Billy Giordano, owner of Room 38 restaurant, and Jeremy Phillips, together, have over 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry. Frustrated with the staff turnover and difficulty of finding quality servers, which is common in the hospitality sector, they decided to build a solution. Together they co-founded StaffedUp, a web/social integrated system that allows the high turnover employer to take control of their hiring process.
Through this system, employers promote openings and manage applicants through the StaffedUp system, which can be accessed from the businesses’ website or social media. Postings are fully customizable, or employers can pull from a set of template positions and descriptions, which are already provided. In addition, employers can view resumes, check references, and even sort and rank applicants all within the same platform. For hospitality businesses, StaffedUp is your virtual one-stop-shop for all your hiring needs.
Born in Columbia, MO, StaffedUp began to grow legs after Billy and Jeremy won Startup Weekend Columbia in 2015. With a $50,000 investment from the MIC Accelerator Fund and their own personal funds, they were able to complete Beta development and form the company infrastructure. In 2018, the company has grown to host over 20,000 active applicants and hundreds of employers. Billy mentioned that while it’s been hard work, he and his cofounder are passionate about their idea and look forward the next step as they gear up for national growth.
